Bio:
Steven B. Torrisi works at NVIDIA on AI for chemistry and materials science, helping bring accelerated computing to scientific discovery. Before joining NVIDIA in 2026, he spent five years as a Senior Research Scientist at Toyota Research Institute. There he led machine-learning projects that took materials predictions all the way from computer simulation to lab synthesis, including guiding the discovery of new battery cathode materials. He also worked as the primary liaison to research programs at MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, Columbia, and Northwestern. Steven earned his PhD in Physics from Harvard in 2021 as a DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellow. At Harvard he co-developed the open-source ML package FLARE. He has co-authored more than 30 papers.
