Congratulations, Brian Schiefer & Ikenna Emechete, on your Outstanding Student Award in Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering!
The Outstanding Student Award is given to two students in the department who are recognized by faculty in their department for academic excellence & notable contributions to the department and the school.
Brian Schiefer has worked as a STEM tutor at UC Merced, and completed internships at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the National Ignition Facility. After graduation, Brian will be working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and plans to pursue a master's degree as well.
At UC Merced, Ikenna Emechete worked as a STEM tutor and conducted research with Dr. Diaz on gasification of a variety of local feedstocks analyzing synthesis gas composition and biochar production. After graduation, Ikenna will pursue a career in either medical technology or power management. In the near future, he also intends to become a licensed Professional Engineer and obtain a master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
